More Than Just Beautiful Art
Island Indigo textiles are individually hand-dyed in an indigo vat on Lady’s Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. Each item has its own unique look and is made of 100% natural materials. We create scarves, totes, table linens, hair accessories, and more.
Hours upon hours of work are put into every single one of our unique items. Dyeing with natural indigo is no easy task but we are determined to create beautiful, quality pieces for our customers.
Our work is inspired by Eliza Lucas Pinckney (1722-1793) who revolutionized agriculture in colonial South Carolina, where she developed indigo as as top cash crop (beside cotton and rice). She discovered and perfected the intricate, thousand-year-old process of making indigo dye.
A portion of all Island Indigo profits are donated to brain cancer research, an initiative close to our hearts.
